A new business can start through the official “Join the RMI” page by submitting its contact, location, premises and business-activity information. The RMI then uses this information to route the enquiry to the appropriate region and association.
Do not confuse this with signing up for the RMI member dashboard. RMI’s dashboard help says the signup process requires an existing RMI number, so it is aimed at creating online access for a member already recorded by RMI.
For a new membership application
Open the official Join the RMI page, choose the appropriate nature of business and provide accurate company, contact and premises information. The form specifically asks about a registered bona fide premises and legal zoning.
After submitting the enquiry, follow the instructions from RMI and the relevant constituent association. Complete the correct membership and accreditation documents rather than using an unrelated association form.
For an existing member needing dashboard access
RMI’s help page directs existing members to its dashboard, then Sign in and Sign up. It says the account registration requires an RMI number, a unique phone number and email activation.
If the system does not recognise the number or business ownership, use the official RMI support route instead of creating conflicting accounts.
Information to prepare first
Have the registered and trading names, physical and postal addresses, business category, responsible person, telephone and email details ready. Accreditation applications can require much more detail about facilities, staff, equipment and compliance.
- Company and trading information
- Correct physical premises and zoning answer
- Main activity and relevant RMI association
- Responsible contact details
- Supporting accreditation documents
- Insurance and compliance evidence when requested
A workshop owner tries to create a dashboard account before receiving an RMI number and assumes the failed signup means the application was rejected. In fact, the owner should first submit the new-member enquiry and complete the association process.
Questions an insurer will ask
- Are you applying for new membership or activating an existing member account?
- Which association covers the main activity?
- Does the premises information match official records?
- Who will manage follow-up and inspection requests?
- Are the supporting documents current and consistent?
